- On TransportReviews.com, an industry website that validates reviewers’ email addresses for accuracy, this car shipping company doesn’t rank in the top 10 for 2023. They have 137 reviews that look to be mostly 5-stars. It’s far less than most of the companies we reviewed, so it clearly is not a site they ask people to visit.
- On Central Dispatch, where auto transport carriers and brokers rate each other, American Auto Shipping has a 100% rating on 1448 responses. This indicates good business dealings with partners, not just customers.

- No Up-Front Deposit: Ideally, every company should avoid requesting an up-front deposit, but not all do. However, this company doesn’t ask for your money early on, which is a positive indication.
- Binding Price Quote: The company claims to offer a 100% money-back guarantee in their terms and conditions. As stated, if they cannot dispatch your vehicle at the quoted price, they will refund your money. Since they don’t require payment upfront, you will be out of luck if they cannot secure a carrier at the agreed price. They suggest that you can relist with them, which is a bit unusual. While most companies admit that prices may increase, only a few provide a genuine guarantee, covering part of the shipping cost if they make a mistake. However, a guaranteed price that fails to move your car serves no purpose.
- Damage-free guarantee – American Auto Shipping offers up to $500 towards the deductible if damage occurs and the carrier’s insurance fails to pay.
- Free rental car for late deliveries – This only kicks in at 14 days past the estimated delivery date. At 14 days, there is undoubtedly an insurance claim in the making or cops being called on the carrier for theft. There is almost no reason for a delay to last this long, so we don’t see this as much of a customer perk.
- Three price models – Standard, Priority, and Expedited. This is similar to AmeriFreight’s three tiers. It is good to have options, but it all depends on their starting price. They mention priority is $200 more, and expedited $500 more. We don’t understand how those numbers can be so specific given the variability of routes, available trucks, etc.
- Car wash – They offer up to $20 for a car wash after delivery for no additional fee. This is a nice touch, but one is left to wonder if they just raise their deposit $20 to cover the expense.
- Terms and conditions state that the customer acknowledges prices may go up from the car shipping quote due to diesel fuel prices. This sort of negates the ‘binding price quote’ mentioned earlier.

After doing this research, we found out what it was like to be a potential shipper by visiting their website and giving them a call. What we found is below:

When it comes to our company reviews, American Auto Shipping’s website ranks lower due to its outdated and cluttered appearance. It took us a moment to locate the quote request section on their webpage because it blended into the background. However, their website features a similar, easy-to-use quote request system on the homepage that provides customers with an almost instant quote, along with an email providing the same details.
One thing we really appreciate about American Auto Shipping’s quote email is the breakdown of the total cost. The email breaks down the vehicle transportation cost, the broker fee, and the carrier fee. This transparency in pricing is refreshing and definitely a plus for customers.
Calls and Texts
There was no attempt by American Auto Shipping to contact us through text or email. When we called them, the attendant immediately asked if we were calling to make payment for the quote they received.
After explaining that we were just calling for more information, the attendant took a step back and took the time to go over some basic information about shipping our vehicle, like needing a 5-day window to find a driver for our car. The attendant was pleasant to speak with and did not put any pressure on us while explaining the pickup and delivery process. Aside from the initial shock of being asked for payment as soon as the phone was picked up, the call went very well.
