Your vehicle has been dispatched to a carrier. Now what? Here is how communication usually works once the car is on its way.
When the carrier will reach out
Once you are dispatched, you get the carrier's contact information and they get yours. They may call right away or they may not. Do not be alarmed by a quiet day. You are welcome to call and introduce yourself.
The carrier will contact you about 24 hours before pickup and again about 24 hours before delivery with an estimated time.
How carriers communicate
Text, email, and phone. If you have a preference, say so, but be patient if they forget. Many of these conversations happen from the cab, where texting is illegal and taking notes is impossible. As long as they are communicating in some form, that is a win.
If you cannot reach the carrier
Do not panic. They may be loading or unloading another car, or asleep after a long shift. If you booked through a broker, call the broker. Getting hold of the carrier is part of what they do.
Conclusion
Carriers will coordinate pickup and delivery with you. If you do not hear from them immediately, give it time, and lean on your broker if you need something sooner. Next: what to expect at delivery.
